About the Michigan National Organization for Women

Michigan NOW is a chapter of the National Organization for Women. It was established to provide coordination of local chapters and statewide advocacy to advance women’s rights in Michigan. Michigan NOW’s purpose is to take action to bring women into full participation in the mainstream of American society now, exercising all privileges and responsibilities thereof in truly equal partnership with men. NOW is the largest multi-issue feminist advocacy group in the United States and Michigan.

Michigan NOW has chapters throughout the state. Michigan NOW is managed by a State Coordinating Council composed of the seven officers elected in odd-numbered years, committee and task force chairs, and chapter presidents The SCC meets at least 3 times a year. The Michigan NOW Executive Committee is composed of the seven officers and manages the business of the organization between SCC meetings. Michigan NOW sponsors an annual conference in the spring of each year featuring speakers, workshops, exhibitors, and reports of interest to feminists.

The Michigan NOW Foundation is a 501c3 organization that seeks tax-deductible donations for projects that advance women’s rights in Michigan.
