has worked in public education for 16 years, 14 of those as the
department head of English at an alternative high school for at-risk students in
the Detroit metropolitan area. She is also a Special Lecturer at Oakland
University where she teaches in the Education Specialist Degree Program and in
the Women and Gender Studies program.
